Quick Question

Right, so when you email one of the search committee heads to let them know they can update your CV to include your hot new IN PRESS manuscript, is it at all overreacting to have feelings of joy when he replies that he was about to email you to see if you were still interested in the position?

Just asking.

Promising. But there’s a long, long, long way to go yet.

Oh I know, Zen, I know. But at this point, any indication that schools are even the tiniest bit interested is all I can ask for.

I would not see it as overreacting ! Appreciate every bit of positive news... we definitely need those 10 seconds of happiness now and then to counterbalance the numerous bad news we receive in research...

Jump for joy! (way more fun than just feelin' it and totally appropriate)

It's a fuckload better than the reply being, "sorry, we have canceled our search" or "sorry, we have already filled the position", so you may as well enjoy it!

Yes, I agree with CPP, too. It definitely means you are still on their radar. Good luck!
